I need serious awnsers… I told my mom she should get it for me my brother and sister but she says its bassicly a omen and she thinks that something will happen if she does… Do you get life insurance for your kids?
My partner has one, but I didn’t sign up.
I don’t see anything wrong with having life insurance. I see your mom’s point though, it seems like if you’re getting a life insurance, you’re so insecure (and sure) that something bad will happen to you.
But I think life insurance is a good thing. It’s a precaution which will benefit the kids. As long as you don’t go into the suspense plot – you know those crimes where people got killed just because of life insurance. Lol.
My husband has a pretty hefty life insurance for himself–the military automatically enrolls members. I don’t have one–nor any of my kids.
My friend’s husband recently passed away. She got $250,000 after his passing. She was in such shock she kept saying–”If I give the money back, can I have HIM back?” She felt selfish for wanting to do things with the money given to her. She felt bad that she had all the money in the world but couldn’t share it with her husband.
Life insurance is not a good idea on your kids. I could only imagine the feeling if one of my children passed and they paid me.
Though work I have a minimum policy on my kid. It only cost around a dollar a month in case the unfortunate happens it will cover burial costs. Policy is good for 8K.
Paying for the retirement clause of life insurance after they move out is most likely too expensive to be worth it.
Life insurance does nothing for my kids, so I will just save the money and do something nice for them while they are alive! Having the money to pay for my daughter’s funeral will not make it any easier! I can keep making payments on it, since I won’t be forgetting she is dead, I don’t need to worry that the monthly casket bill will upset me! I have seen the commercial where they call it an investment in their future, but technically it is an investment in their lack of a future right? Save the money and use to buy ice cream cones to take to the park and eat with the munchkins, you will treasure the memories of that a lot more than knowing their funerals are payed for!
Life insurance is a decision most of us have to make, but it’s never an omen – we’re all going to die sooner or later!
Your question could be interpreted two ways:
1. Should you insure the lives of your children?
You can choose to do this, but the payout should only be enough to cover burial costs.
2. Should you insure your own life to provide for your children after you’re gone?
If at all possible, you should, but the main reason is to provide for them during the period of their lives when they’re unable to provide for themselves. If they’re old enough to support themselves, it’s only useful if a tax or inheritance advantage results.
Everyone should have life insurance. Whether she believes it is a omen or not. The truth is everybody is going to die so why not have life insurance so you can be buried in the right way?
I have life insurance on me,my husband and my son.
If you didn’t have life insurance and god forbid something should happen your buriel, funeral costs would be taken care of if not that money would be took out of your own pocket.
I have enough to cover the cost of a funeral. The reason I do is because 26 years ago, my older sister was killed in a car accident and it was hard for my parents to pay for the funeral as well as all their other regular bills.
I bought life insurance for my kids. One important aspect that I wanted was guaranteed insurability. Their plans allow them to buy more insurance later no mater what. If they have a disease or even hobby (some companies won’t insure you if you bungee jump, sky dive, or some other things) they will still be able to buy more insurance so as adults they will have enough for their families even if they race cars or fly stunt planes (heaven forbid).
My kids are 5 and 2. My life insurance offers what is called a rider policy. It costs me no extra money and they each have $10,000 worth of coverage. The reason we got it was if {I SAID “IF”} god forbid anything would happen to one of our children it would help cover the funeral expenses. AND the other thing you should do when you have a child is get a will drawn up. I know that sounds morbid but your kids and your money need a secure place to be if something happens to you. You need to think ahead and make sure you have a plan “just incase” something would happen. My childrens money goes into trust with my brother and sister in law and they get custody of them if something would happen to me. At least then I know they would be well taken care of.
Its basically up to the parents to decide on whether to get life insurance on their kids. If you must get life insurance on your kids, I would just get a $10,000 10-20 year term policy on each to cover the funerale expenses. Life insurance agents may try to sell multiple policies on a family. You really need just one policy that has spouse and child riders in it.

Don’t waste the money. We didn’t get insurance for any of our kids and my dad sold life insurance.
